Buttercup is the coolest guy... If we could have an unlimited amount of horses, this guy would be staying! He's EXTREMELY sweet & adores all people! Buttercup is sound & healthy. He is currently in NEW front shoes. He came to us with front shoes but our farrier thinks they could be pulled once summer is over and the ground isn't so hard. Our farrier said he's got great feet, very strong. This boy is adorable too. He has one blue eye and one brown eye. He's chestnut with some roaning and a little splash of white on his left side. Buttercup is about 14.3/15 hands and approximately 11 yrs. old. He is a very pretty mover, very fancy way about him, which leads me to suspect he may have a small amount of Saddlebred in him. We do not know his history, he was a rescue and has been with us for approximatly 2 months. We can tell you that he has absolutely NO vices or issues whatsoever. He is sweet and gentle and broke to death! He goes English and western, will take a jump and neck rein nicely too. He is a VERY honest horse and does not try to get out of work, in fact he's one of those horses that is always looking for the next job. He is very responsive, and although well broke and very safe, we do not recommend him for total beginner riders as he needs a rider that can cue him in a subtle way. Just a tiny bit of leg and he moves out. This boy is not only a blast to ride, but fun to be around too. He's the total package and his low price in no way reflects his quality. He is a good boy through and through!

Rescued Horses:
At times we are able to secure slaughter-bound horses & find them new homes & offer them a second chance in life. The following horses are some we've helped over the years. They are no longer available because they have found peace, love, & security with new families.

I am a VERY sweet, young, beautiful 15.2 hand TB mare. I ended up in a NJ kill pen when Fox Ridge spotted me & brought me here with my best buddy, Beau. I waited 3 long months for Susan to come along & take me home. My future is bright, happy, & secure... my happy ending starts right now!

I am the prettiest horse in NJ, hands down! I'm 15.3 hands, 6 years old, & a GORGEOUS Palomino Paint gelding! Somehow I fell into the wrong hands & ended up sitting on a feed lot. I was re-homed for less then what FRF had into me because I found the world's best home with my new, wonderful mom, Shannon! Sometimes things are just meant to be... I am looking forward to my fresh start & new life with Shannon & Travis!

Sold May, 2010

I am a sweet 14.1 hand, 10 year old, registered POA pony gelding. A NJ farm dumped me at the auction after I served them for YEARS in their lesson program. I happily took care of their child riders, & this is how I was rewarded by them! DISGUSTING!!!
I was secured by FRF & re-homed to Lori, a wonderful lady who has a lovely farm in CT. I am BEYOND grateful for my happy ending!
...On a side note, many farms do care a great deal about their lesson horses & treat them wonderfully & go to great lengths to safe guard their futures! Before supporting a farm with your business please research & ONLY support farms that care for their horses, the foundation which builds their businesses, because these horses deserve a great deal more then being thrown away like trash... like I was.
Thanks,
~Rikki

$0 fee April, 2010

I am the most deserving horse in the world! I am 15.3 hands, 23 years old, & a registered QH gelding. I was starved & neglected by the ANIMAL that owned me & by the ANIMAL in charge of caring for me. I scored a 1 on the body condition scale & even the vet wasn't hopeful that I would survive.
Once FRF found out about my condition & about the appointment that had been made to have me euthanized, they secured me and went to work bringing me back to life.
Thank you everyone who helped me ~the list is long. So many stood up for me to give me another chance, even if that chance was only to die with dignity at FRF comfortable, loved, & with a full belly. I surprised everyone though, & on April 6th I was transported to my new, loving, forever home. Thanks everyone for giving me another chance. I am feeling much better.
Love,
Shaney

I am a friend of FRF that is 16.1 hands & a QH gelding. FRF contacted my old trainer who contacted my old owners to let them know that I was sitting on a feed lot waiting to ship to slaughter. Without hesitation, my old owners paid my bail & secured me. I was going to come to FRF so I could find a loving home, but the transporter knew of the perfect new home for me. I need to send some serious props to my old owners, the Gentile family, my old trainer, Dara Dondiego, & Lorraine Smith for pulling a happy ending together for me! Thank you everyone, I am happy & safe now & will always be thanks to you!

I have the kindest disposition & the most gentle nature of any horse anywhere. I'm a 14.3 hand, 16 year old, TB mare. I don't know how it happened, but I almost shipped to slaughter. Thankfully I was secured by FRF. The Perez family has brought me home to their lovely farm. This is my second & hopefully last adoptive home since getting off the kill buyer's lot. Life is good... again!
